This workshop is for parents, carers and professionals

A workshop to help parents and professionals create a communication friendly environment for children who have not started talking. The workshop will teach you how to bring communication and interaction skills into different settings. This can be at home or in a education environment.

This workshop is based on the 'Communication At The Heart of the School/Setting' (CATHS) approach. We encourage professionals to attend the same workshop as the parents of the child. This is not essential but can be helpful.

Aim of this workshop

  • Understand the importance of using a whole school approach to help communication needs
  • Learn about techniques and strategies to help children with speech, language and communication needs

Entry criteria

The workshop is for parents and professionals caring for children who:

  • are between 3 to 11 years old
  • responding their their immediate environments
  • rely on adults to interpret their communication

Workshop dates

The booking window will close 2 working days before the date of the training.

Please note, if you do not attend the workshop, you may be charged a penalty fee.

Developing language

As children grow older, their list of words they know becomes bigger and more complicated. They learn new ways to put words together into sentences. Their understanding and comprehension of spoken, non-spoken and written communication also improves.
