Storytelling and understanding narrative is important for children in day-to-day conversations. These skills will help them understand the order of events. They are used when they share news, talk about events or tell stories about their day. These stories can be from their imagination or repeating the events of the day. 

Aim of this workshop

  • be familiar with how narrative develops children
  • understand the importance of narrative skills in everyday life
  • recognise the impact of difficulties with storytelling and narrative skills
  • be familiar with how support the development of storytelling and narrative skills

Entry criteria

This workshop is for professionals working with school-aged children. The workshop will help children who:

  • are between 5 to 11 years old
  • have difficulties talking about things that have happened
  • give very little detail when telling stories or sharing information
  • share lots of irrelevant details when telling stories or sharing information
  • get their ideas confused
  • assume you know what they are talking about

Workshop dates

The booking window will close 2 working days before the date of the training.

Please note, if you do not attend the workshop, you may be charged a penalty fee.
